“Excellence
is not an Accident”!
“Excellence
is not an accident”!
This was a message
proudly displayed on
one of Buda’s local
schools. I like
this! I was in a
store and an
employee’s name
badge said,
“Excellence in
Customer Service.”
Behind each of these
two sayings are
recognitions of hard
work, deep thought,
reflection, and
revelation.
I visited a
nursing home today and
noticed some excellent
staff. With low
pay and little
recognition they did
the thankless jobs
that brought moments
of excellence to those
they served. These
staff were no accident
and they had great
customer service.
I visited a
close friend of mine
in the nursing home.
He shared with me some
excellent moments of
his life.
Cherished memories of
hard work and tough
times and I was
reminded the wisdom of
those who have lived
life and not those who
talk about it. My
friend believes he had
an excellent life and
I am not about to
argue with him.
I went running
last night. It
didn’t take long to
get hot and sweaty.
A cool breeze crossed
my face and I was
thankful for that
moment of comfort and
peace. I
experienced excellence
in nature and was
reminded of all the
beautiful things going
on around me if I
would only look around
at the excellence of
God’s creation.
Nature is no accident
and neither are we.
I was reminded
this week of my
brother who died
I remember my
brother’s death
taught me the
excellence of God.
“Death has
been swallowed up in
victory.” “Where, O death is
your victory? Where, O
death, is your
sting?” The
sting of death is sin,
and the power of sin
is the law. But
thanks be to God, who
gives us the victory
through our Lord Jesus
Christ. – I
Corinthians 14:55-57
(RSV)
I think the
school sign was right,
“Excellence is not
an Accident.”
The excellence of the
resurrection of Jesus
Christ that gives us
victory of eternal
life and takes away
the victory of sin and
death. Then
again, some people
think this world just
happened--it was an
accident--a big bang
created all the
excellence we
experience in life.
I think the school
sign was right,
“Excellence is not
an accident.”
